About
LearnRankReviews is an independent review site about password managers. We publish reviews, head-to-head comparisons, shortlists for specific situations and guides that explain how password security works, so you can choose a manager that fits the way you actually use your devices.
What we cover
We currently review five of the most widely used password managers — Bitwarden, 1Password, NordPass, Dashlane and LastPass — and compare them in our rating. We would rather cover a few products thoroughly than list dozens with a sentence each.
How we research a password manager
Each review is built from sources you can check yourself:
- Security documentation and white papers that explain how the vault is encrypted and how keys are derived.
- Independent audit and penetration-test reports the vendor has published.
- Public security history, including disclosed breaches and how the company responded.
- Official plan and pricing pages, including what free plans actually allow.
- Supported platforms and browsers as listed by the vendor.
We then score every manager against the same weighted criteria, described in full on our methodology page. We don’t publish lab benchmarks or invented test numbers, and when something depends on your own setup — such as how well autofill works on a particular site — we say so and suggest using the vendor’s free plan or trial to check.
What we don’t do
- We don’t accept payment for reviews, higher rankings or the removal of criticism.
- We don’t hide security incidents. LastPass’s 2022 breach, for example, is covered in its review and in every comparison where it matters.
- We don’t present prices as permanent. Prices are list prices at the time of our last update, and introductory offers often renew at a higher rate.
How the site is funded
Some links on the site may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you. Commissions don’t affect scores: every manager is rated with the same criteria whether or not it has an affiliate programme. Details are on our disclosure page.
Corrections and updates
Password managers change quickly — new plans, new features, new audits and occasionally new incidents. We update reviews when a vendor changes its pricing or plans, publishes a new audit, or discloses a security problem, and the date on each page shows when it was last updated. If you spot something that is wrong or out of date, please tell us through the contact page; we correct factual errors as soon as we can verify them.
What you can expect from a review
Every review follows the same structure: a short verdict and score, the key facts (price, free plan, platforms, encryption), then sections on security, features, pricing, ease of use and support, followed by who the manager suits, who should look elsewhere and which alternatives to consider. Pros and cons are kept short and specific, and every factual claim about security — audits, encryption, incidents — is something the vendor or an independent source has published.
We also try to answer the practical questions people actually have: whether the free plan is usable day to day, what happens when an introductory price renews, how to move your passwords from another manager, and what to do if a vendor you use has had a security incident.
